GPA Oyster Shells Powder was founded in 2022 in Ada-Kasseh, Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Located along the Volta River estuary and Gulf of Guinea coastline, our community has engaged in artisanal oyster harvesting for generations.
Historically, once oyster meat was consumed or sold at local markets, vast mounds of hard calcium-rich shells accumulated along the shores and village paths, often regarded as stubborn biological waste.
Recognizing that these marine shells represent the purest, most bioavailable form of natural calcium carbonate on Earth, our founders established an engineered processing facility in Ada-Kasseh. We designed a complete production system: systematic collection, freshwater washing, elevated solar drying, heavy hammer-pulverizing, and precision sifting.
